The Answer to Why

I  think the most difficult part of my "recovery" from my difficult childhood was dealing with the issue of the Sovereignty of God. If God truly loved me, why didn't he spare me from the ugly things? He was the "Good" Shepherd, wasn't He? Yet the Scriptures are very plain in declaring God's sovereignty. Nothing escapes God's eye, nothing surprises Him. I recall spending several hours one day on my bicycle outside my childhood home, trying desparately to remember any good thing that had happened in there. As I mentally walked through each room, I only saw the trauma. Now that I'm older, I understand that my brain was "purging" the repressed memories. Still, it was a very sad day for me. As I went off to Bible college, I took several theology courses. I devoured the survey courses on the Old and New Testaments. I eagerly "sparred" with my classmates about those biblical issues like election, the perfect will of God, and the mean...

Pursuits, Passions, and Peace

Below is my recent adaptation of Romans 14 for the church in 2020. We are no longer striving with one another over meat offered to idols or the observance of Sabbaths and religious holidays, but the principles in Romans 14 are VERY applicable to this contentious time over our response to the current election cycle and the government's response to COVID.  It's important to offer liberty within the body of Christ and allow for differences in our choice to support Trump or not, to wear or not wear masks, or meet in our churches as usual or adapt in ways that comply with government mandates. As you read through this adapted passage, consider the biblical mandate here to walk in love with one another in the body of Christ. Romans 14:1‭-‬13, 19-23 CSB, adapted for the church in 2020: Accept anyone who is weak in faith, but don’t argue about disputed matters. One person believes he should vote for Trump, while one who is weak thinks he should never vote for Trump. One who votes fo...

MyWW Purple Plan

Image
I am loving the purple plan on myWW so far! I did some digging today to find the GF pastas that fit on the new zero points list. Pasta is listed by ingredient on the purple plan, but not every GF brand shows up as 0 points when scanned. I wanted to make sure that my favorite pasta brands actually matched up with the nutritional values of the ones that are on the list, so that I can confidently input my pasta servings as "chickpea pasta" or "black bean pasta" rather than scanning my brand. I'm putting a copy of my list below to help you make an informed decision whether you can consider your GF pasta a zero point food on the purple plan. I hope you are enjoying the new plan as much as I am, and the freedom to make better choices that will get me to my fitness goals.

Welcome!

Welcome to my newest blog where I'll be sharing things about this new chapter of my life as an empty nester. I'm currently pursuing wellness as a WW member, and pursuing my passions of teaching and playing music. I hope you'll find a thing or two that will be useful or amusing to you!!
